Hi Ailsa, I had one a few years ago before RA, never used it for meat but it was great for shaping blocks of foam to reupholster the sofa, think I threw it away after that, but wished I'd kept it, as like you I can't seem to get even a sharp steel to go through the cracking on pork. Just wondered what the weight of electric carvng knives is these days, so if you do buy one would love to know if it solves the problem.
